NAVA is the first mode of mechanical ventilation to respond directly to the patient’s respiratory demand and is modulated by the patient’s own respiratory reflexes.

Sessions will include lectures by key scientific experts and clinicians who utilize Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist routinely in adults and in newborns.

  • Attendees will learn about the science behind NAVA, as described by its inventor.
  • From leading researchers and clinicians in the field, the audience will receive state-of-the-art knowledge on the topic of patient-ventilator interaction and neural monitoring of breathing. This will include new research about excessive assist in conventional modes and the effects on the mechanically ventilated patient.
  • The clinical experience of using NAVA 24/7 will be presented in depth by routine users in both adults and newborns.
  • The attendees will learn about the research and clinical experience of non-invasive ventilation with NAVA.
  • Experience of using NAVA with the severely ill patient, and in combination with extracorporeal CO2 removal, will be presented.
  • These emerging opinions will be summarized and discussed in round table sessions.
